Scared Silly

Scared Silly by Frank J Edler

What do you get when you mix a penis eating zombie with a downtrodden grim reaper then add a pinch of lycanthropic mad scientist, sprinkle it with a grocery store full of living food and mash it into a frightening red eyed monster? You get SCARED SILLY!

Let author Frank J Edler take you into a world of not-so-serious horror. This collection features five frighteningly funny tales from the wicked and wacky writer. Laugh yourself to death as you read the stories: “Old Scrote”, “SPLAT!”, “Death Gets A Life”, “GROSSeries” and “Wolfberries”.

The IndieMuse Review

SCARED SILLY by Frank J. Edler is getting a re-release—a collection of five stories published at the start of his career.

If you don’t know who this author is, you can check him out at or as the host of the Bizzong! The Weird And Wacky Podcast. The description of this book on Goodreads  says: “…take you into a world of not-so-serious horror.”

And that’s probably the best description anybody can give. His stories are funny, way above ever being scary, yet the genre remains connected to the horror world. The five stories in this collection gives you a glimpse of an author still looking for his exact place in the vast horror market. Sure, there were some writing mistakes made, but the main thing I can guarantee anybody who is interested in the book:

Frank does not confine his imagination to any box—his mind works in a unique and original way—something I have a great respect for.

Of the five stories, it was only “SPLAT!” that didn’t really work for me—there was just no connection on my part, but I also think it is important because it showed that his strength does not lie in straight horror.

“Old Scrote” is about a penis eating zombie…need I say more?

“GROSSeries” was probably one of the most original stories I’ve read in a long time, taking something that has been overdone and making it fresh.

However, it is “Death Gets A Life’ which was the most impressive of the lot, and it paved the way for the very original and funny “Death” series—I have read Death Gets A Book and A Death in Toledo (read our review), and found both of them hilarious.

If you are looking for something original and funny, this is an author I can recommend.

Mort Stone lives in untamed Africa, where he rides his lion to work every morning to slave away as a scientist who learned how to fake competency.

Reading is his passion…well, the one he can admit to, anyway. As an aggressive pacifist, he chooses to fight vicariously through stories which can bring him no physical harm.

While he is almost confidant that his IQ is in the top 50%, his wife regularly reminds him of all the stupid things he does. He will neither admit nor deny the accusations of sarcasm, but he can act like he cares. Most of the time.

As an avid reader of horror and thrillers, and somewhat of a movie buff in those genres, he still blames his insomnia on Global Warming. Because he can.

He would also like to apologize in advance for any swear words which might slip through…he will blame that on the insomnia.
