Who We Are?
As we went into a live development phase of IndieMuse this week, we began getting many queries on the who, what, when and how the literary community can get involved here. So we wanted to get this information out.
The Who
Sorry, no Roger Daltrey here. I’m Patrick Zonn and I’m the interim lead curator, but will be taking the helm to run the day-to-day operations beginning in January 2021. Meanwhile, we’re building staff and will be starting to add content up to the official launch on 1/31/21.
I’m excited to be working once again with legendary horror editor and publisher Shane Staley (Delirium Books, DarkFuse) who was also the architect/web developer of the amazing Horror Mall ecommerce site which I frequented back in the day (and wish was still around!). His web development company, Staley & Associates, got the bid to develop this website. I’ve also talked him into being the interim online horror editor until we fill that position.
The What
IndieMuse covers the independent literary scene, collecting news and releases relevant to our growing readership. We are promoting talented authors and working with independent publishers to get the word about the fact that you don’t need to be a mass-market published author to be extremely talented. However, there is (to put it politely) quite a lot of junk on the market that needs sifted through. That’s where our staff of curators comes in. We scour the largest slush pile on earth (Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing releases) and spotlight the best self-published authors and independent publishers using the world’s biggest eBook self-publishing platform.
During our initial building process, we have now begun with our first target genres: Crime, Humor/Bizarre/Bizarro, Horror and Humor. We are currently building an infrastructure for each genre as a department (staff, curators, book reviewers, etc.).
The When
As stated, 1/31/21 is our projected launch date, but live development has now begun. We are adding staff now, so if you’re interested in the genres above and would like to contribute, please don’t hesitate to reach out and introduce yourself using our Contact Page.
The How
AUTHORS—If you’re an author in one of the genres mentioned, please submit your profile to be considered for our Featured Author section of the site.
Important Notice
Unlike other promotional sites, we do not take money from authors for paid promotions. All content and promotions are curated by our staff (not paid for). Talent matters here! Our revenue comes from grants, donations, fundraisers, affiliate ads and other means. So, yeah, we’re most definitely indie, too!
BOOK REVIEWERS—If you review books in the genres mentioned and want to grow with us and reach a new readership, please apply here. We’ll gladly syndicate your existing columns from other sites or blog, or you can begin your own book review column with us!
READERS—Finally, here’s how to connect and support our venture as we support independent authors and publishers. Your support will allow us to spend countless hours mining for talented authors that will one day grace your Kindle or physical bookshelves!
